3.3.1. INTRODUCTION

Assessment rubrics can be used for formative, diagnostic and summative purposes; consequently, they indicate the learning achievement level according to predefined learning outcomes and, therefore, should include the learning product(s) and process(es). They usually imply a compromise between the learner and content to be learned and can also be a means for the teacher to establish learning contracts with the learners. Rubrics can be used by learners to regulate their learning, as well as by teachers to adjust their teaching strategies to the learners’ needs, thus making teaching more personalised.
