Pedagogical point-of -view:

  •  Enhances transparent assessment, given that explicitly state the quality standards to be achieved by students;
  •  Allows students to have a clearer view over what higher performance (on particular criteria) implies;
  •  Fosters reflective learning practice, based on self and peer assessment;
  •  Promotes timely and personalised feedback, when used during the learning process;
  •  Enables students to develop assessment competences.

Technical point-of-view:

  •  Enhances formative assessment
  •  allows for assessing the learning process
  •  facilitates timely teacher feedback, as well as self and peer assessment
  •  Several Learning Management Systems include tools to create digitally-enhanced assessment rubrics. There are also others that can be used, e.g.: Quick Rubric (https://www.quickrubric.com/) – which, besides providing some resources that underline the pedagogic usefulness of rubrics, allows for building a rubric from scratch that can be saved, printed and shared with others; Rubric Maker (https://rubric-maker.com/)– which does not require registration and is web based. It allows to create, print and share rubrics (but not to save); RubiStar (http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php) – which does not require registration and presents rubric templates for different areas (e.g., maths, writing, science, music, reading) that can be edited and saved.
