2.3.3. WHY SHOULD I PROVIDE FEEDBACK TO ONLINE STUDENTS, USING VLE TOOLS?

Pedagogical point-of -view:

  • Allows linking feedback to the rubric assessment criteria, forcing students to write comments for each assessment criterion;
  • Draws attention to the assessment task by focusing the student's effort;
  • Motivates students to work by encouraging them to do the best they can;
  • Provides evidence of existing good practice - the student knows what and why they have done well;
  • Clarifies the expected standards for every single assessment activity;
  • Suggests ways for improvement;
  • Constructive feedback enables students to take control of their own assessment by making them active participants in the learning and assessment process.

Technical point-of-view:

  • Provides a better overview of where students are in learning/teaching process;
  • Optimizes the logistics of the feedback provision;
  • Saves time.
