1.3.2. DEFINITIONS

Technology-enhanced/digital assessment criteria and indicators. The criteria for assessment and assessment indicators are considered to be vital elements in ensuring the transparency of the assessment process both in face-to-face classrooms as well as in online learning settings. It is important that both students and teachers have a common understanding of what is going to be assessed and how (Jones and Alcock, 2014). The criteria for assessment are the signifiers of the anticipated benchmarks in the student learning process (Woolf, 2004). To put it in other words, what is being expected from a student in order for them to pass the course or obtain certain qualifications. The listing of assessment criteria may facilitate assessment procedures as well as keep students engaged and promote a more active approach to learning and assessment.
