1.3.2. DEFINITIONS

Technology-enhanced/digital assessment criteria and indicators. The criteria for assessment and assessment indicators are considered to be vital elements in ensuring the transparency of the assessment process both in face-to-face classrooms as well as in online learning settings. It is important that both students and teachers have a common understanding of what is going to be assessed and how (Jones and Al**, 2014). The criteria for assessment are the signifiers of the anticipated benchmarks in the student learning process (Woolf, 2004). To put it in other words, what is being expected from a student in order for them to pass the course or obtain certain qualifications. The listing of assessment criteria may facilitate assessment procedures as well as keep students engaged and promote a more active approach to learning and assessment.
