When
engaging in peer feedback activities, there may be students who can
become careless and not mark assignments adequately. In this situation,
using different grading strategies, co-creating assessment rubrics and
introducing engaging activities can help motivate students.
- Think
of a specific assignment in which you can incorporate peer review (in
addition to written assignments you can consider using other media, e.g.
student-produced videos
or other outputs; you can also consider group projects, so students can
share and support each other through the review process);
- Reflect on how this activity, and more specifically peer review, correlates with your course’s learning outcomes.
- Decide if (and how) peer review will affect students’ assessment and select the most appropriate grading strategy (i.e., accumulative grading, comments, number of errors and rubrics).
