3.2.1. Data field preparation for MicroCredentialization

Preparing for MicroCredential issuing on the course level, the following parameters must be entered into VLE:

a) Learning outcomes. The learning outcomes specify what the learner should be able to do. Learning outcomes are brief, clear, specific statements of what students will be able to perform at the conclusion of learning activities. Learning outcomes (knowledge, skills, attitudes) provide the basis for clear, implicit or explicit course content, training activities.

b) Progress bar activation. The Progress Bar is a time-management tool for learners. It visually shows what activities/resources a learner is supposed to interact with in a course. It is colour coded so learners can quickly see what they have and have not completed/viewed.

c) Link learning outcomes to activities and grade item set. The learner gradebook is a tool that shows the grades received. Also, the achieved learning outcomes are displayed, which are assigned to the course assignments.

Here we provide how to do:

a) Learning outcomes

Adding course learning outcomes. Teachers enter the course and go to Course administration → Outcomes  → Manage outcomes → Add a new outcome.

Required fields must be filled:

  • Full name (full Outcomes)
  • Short name (short Outcomes. For example 1 learning outcomes)
  • Scale. Chosen Outcomes scale

→ press Save changes

b) Progress bar activation. Teachers need to generate a progress bar. In the course use progress tools. These tools enable students to mark resources read, links viewed, activities performed. Check whether your course of study has enabled progress monitoring tools.

c) Link learning outcomes to activities and grade item set.

Learning Outcomes and grade are assigned to the activities (for example, for tests, assignments, etc.) created in the course.

Activities edited in the course → to the activity is chosen → Edit settings
