Enquiry based learning

3. Characteristics of enquiry based learning

  • The training is essentially student oriented, focusing on group work and the use of the library, the Internet and other sources of information.
  • Lecturers become mediators, encouraging and supporting students so that they can take responsibility for what they learn and how they are learning.
  • Students reach a point where they not only investigate others proposed questions but can formulate their research topics and turn their research into useful knowledge.
  • Students acquire not only a deeper understanding of the subject, but also the knowledge creation and leadership skills needed to solve complex problems that arise in the real world.
